In our home, we have a "multipurpose" room. Really it is an ecclectic conglomeration of office things, storage things and my sewing/crafting things. It is my Great Embarrassment. I shut the door and no one outside the family is allowed to see the horrible state of the room. The main problem with the room (aside from the complete disorganization of paperwork and boxes that have yet to be unpacked from our move last summer) is that I am the only one who actually uses the room. We don't even keep a computer in there. SO WHY AM I SAVING ALL THIS SPACE ON THE DESK??????
It is now MINE!! I announced (not asked) to my veggie husband that I was taking over the room officially. No more office......if you exclude the small file cabinet that will house our papers (one day) and our office supplies.
So now I have the joy of doing with the room what works for me and for my projects. I find this very empowering and thrilling. MY OWN ROOM! I got right to work to get it straight--migrate the office type things off the desk, fill the drawers of my sewing table, clear a path on the floor to allow for me to walk without stepping on or over things......Ahhhhhhh. The joys of organization.
But then I got distracted.
I had the floor clear, the desk clear and could finally see the top of the work space on my sewing table. Then, last minute, we decided to take a road trip to see our old friends and celebrate a 1st birthday. Now I had a project that needed my immediate attention. Ideas, I am not short on. So I choose the project and began cutting, sewing, ironing.....and before I knew it I had an adorable gift! I raced down the stairs to share my creation with the family. I was rewarded with oohs and aahs and giggles from the girls. And that was that. It was done. I moved on to the rest of my day.
This morning, I remembered THE ROOM. As I passed by it on my way to fix breakfast, my eyes were shocked: my sewing table was piled with fabric, the desk was covered with scraps and iron and other random piles of supplies, and the floor......well let's just say that I couldn't see it anymore! What happened to my room?!?!
In a word: ME. I guess that I just have to accept that I am not an organized crafter. I start pulling out things out of the box like a 2 year old empties a toy box. I guess I am now back to square one..........
I will post a picture of my finished creation, when I find the camera cord........I think it's in THE ROOM.
****Several moons later.......
It's pretty cute, I think. And then I also made this one.......

I think they are just adorable!!!!! I hope the recipients enjoy them too!!!
